Robert’s Obamacare Decision and His Game Plan (part 2)

I have long ago stopped wondering if Chief Justice John Roberts was the smartest guy in the room. He is.

I have been dismayed, then confused, by some of his decisions on Obamacare issues and commented on the most recent one Here.

It occurs to me now that Robert’s has significantly enhanced the power of the legislature and the court must now, based on decisions with a liberal majority, support any legislative attempt to overturn or significantly reform Obamacare. He has already indicated that he thinks it is drafted in an “inartful” manner and has many problems.

As Roberts believes, if you don’t like it, elect people who will change it.

Charleston and Abraham Lincoln

I was deeply disturbed by the recent murders in Charleston, South Carolina, for the deaths of kind innocents during a bible study, the pain inflicted on family and friends, and the impact on the nation.

The most remarkable event, however, took place after the murders as the relatives of the slain forgave the killer. Forgave!! Contrast this with events in Ferguson, Missouri when a man with drugs in his system attacked a police officer and was shot while doing it. Ferguson burned!!

Abraham Lincoln, in his Second Inaugural address, spoke of his vision of the end of the Civil War, then four years old with 600,000 dead, by saying the victorious North should
act “With malice for none; with charity for all, let us strive to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan—to do all which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves, and with all nations.”

The vitriolic and hateful progressives have taken Charleston as an opportunity to rip open the long healed wounds and ignore Lincoln’s prayer. Like in 1865, Lincoln, a Republican, was opposed by Democrats, as vitriolic and hateful then as now. Their intent is the division of the country that Lincoln saved.

The proper lesson was taught by the good people of the Emanuel AME Church who embrace Lincoln’s message of charity and forgave. We should all do the same.
